Tim & Cheryl Gilley

As Kids: Tim grew up in the middle of nowhere, in southeastern Colorado on a pinto bean farm. He learned how to play and work hard and attended a small country church. Cheryl was born into a Navy family. As her dad was a pilot in the Navy, the family lived many places coast to coast, and in Hawaii and Japan.

Salvation: Tim came to trust the Lord as a young man after moving to San Jose, CA as he was convicted that he didn’t really have a relationship with the Lord. Cheryl was saved at age 12 when her parents shared Scripture and she knew she deeply desired a relationship with her Lord.

As Young Adults: Tim graduated with a degree in Manufacturing Engineering and moved to San Jose, CA to work with IBM for his first job. He soon grew lonely and looked in the yellow pages to find a church to attend. That same summer, Cheryl moved back to San Jose to teach in a Christian School that just “happened” to be at the church that Tim found in the yellow pages.

Starting life together: We were married on June 13th, 1981 and have enjoyed many wonderful years together.

Life: We started in CA, were transferred with IBM to Rochester, MN, served in an orphanage in Moscow, Russia, worked with the same Russian kids in Indianapolis, IN, worked in Huron, SD and now are happily settled in Cottage Grove, MN.

Family: God blessed us with two wonderful kids, Nathan and Rebekah. Nathan married his Rebecca and our daughter Rebekah married Nathan’s Rebecca’s brother, Matt. Get it? The two Beka’s/Becca’s married each other’s brother. It keeps life interesting, for sure! We are also blessed with two precious granddaughters, Nora and Amity! Such a blessing!

Ministry: God called us into work with Awana in the Fall of 2011 while attending our church’s Mission’s Conference. He has brought us to Southern MN to train churches and leaders to work through Awana teaching kids and youth to come to know, love and serve, the Lord Jesus Christ! What a privilege it is to serve Him!
