More than anyone in your church, commanders hold the key to a successful Awana ministry. That’s why Commander College gives specialized training to help you make your ministry everything God intended!
At Commander College 101 you will gain a clear understanding of your responsibilities and your heart will be encouraged toward effective ministry to children and youth! The conference is also the best opportunity for commanders to fellowship together and learn from each other. Many return to their clubs with a fantastic support system. Commander College 201 will inspire you to examine true excellence in ministry and how it can be achieved. 201 builds on the five leadership roles you discovered in Getting Started and 101. Through personal mentoring, motivation and instruction from Awana President/CEO Jack Eggar, Awana author and speaker Larry Fowler, the Awana Training Team and commanders from around the U.S., 201 will challenge you to be the excellent commander God called you to be. Commander College 301 is not for the faint-hearted. You will be challenged to evaluate what you have implemented from 101 and 201, things like — how well your directors and leaders share the gospel with clubbers; how well you have built relationships with your children’s or youth pastor; and, how stories using a vision statement have transformed your club and church. You will consider what kind of legacy God might be calling for your life during this season – to leave a spiritual heritage for your children and grandchildren, to expand God’s work in your church by raising up a co-commander, or to look beyond your Awana club and pursue a missionary or ministry team experience locally or in another part of the world.
